Mags, planes & vans

Mags as in Magnolias.

I love photographing these.

They are so brilliant.

They give the perfect lighting without having to do any editing other than sizing & putting my name on the photo.

And they smell nice.

The magnolia tree, you can see the white blooms on it.

Then I saw a plane when shooting the tree, so I shot it too:

Then this guy came & took my van. He's towing it to a shop to see what's wrong with it. It's El Deado. Unfortunately, I got in the bad habit of putting things in it & using it for storage. Maybe it's a good thing it went into the shop because that was a bad habit. Now I'll be forced to go through the stuff that's piled in the driveway beside my RV to either send to storage or get rid of.

In fact, of those items are some refridgerator shelves, two drawers & a glass shelf for a Norcold N641 model RV fridge. If anyone needs them, let me know. Otherwise, I'll list them on Craigslist. I was told to take them out when I ordered my new fridge, but it came with them.

I told the tow place to bring a BIG TRUCK! Not a small truck. My van is big, weighs 7000 pounds. Almost all the roadside services send me the small trucks. That's a waste of time for the tow companies & they don't get paid when they come out & can't tow the vehicle. The front tires of this tow truck lifted slightly off the ground when he loaded my van -- El Yike-os!

And no, this guy is not pushing my van onto the ramp, although it looks like it huh? ;-)

  1. He's sure got a full load for his little two truck.

    1. I guess once he got it up there, then no problem. But it was a little nerve wracking watching his truck lift up! Reminded me of the net pics I've seen when they've sent trucks that were too small to lift the bigger ones.

  2. I'm originally from SE Ohio... magnolia trees don't do well there... well, they bloom but most years a killing frost will freeze the blossoms and turn them brown... ugly as sin... almost as soon as they all come out. In fact, I know a woman who went out with an axe one day and chopped her tree down because she was so distraught over it getting frozen every year. So.... your beautiful photo of the magnolia brought back a whole bunch of memories long past... We, too, have the habit of filling up our little Scion with "stuff". Bill calls it our "storage shed"... it's everything from our wine cellar to our library. Good luck with clearing yours out for the move :-)

    1. I didn't know they grew so far up north there. No, I'd not think they'd like the freezes either. My storage shed is bigger than yours is :-) but then, I can't tow mine & you could...

  3. Love the pictures of the magnolia's - never had those growing up in MT. But we had lilacs and I sure love the smell of them. Jim has a tendency to stuff stuff in places. I need to keep an eye on him.

    1. Oh Lilacs are nice! They too smell wonderful. I grew up with them & the snowball bushes.

  4. Maybe I've seen a Magnolia tree, but I can't really recall - very nice.

Hope your van is fixable for a reasonable cost.

  5. Hope the van gets fixed and you get fixed and you can hit the road soon. If it ain't one thing its another. Isn't the van extra storage?

There is a motor home up here I have seen for the past 3 summers up here with the siding missing just like yours was. I can't imagine how they live in that thing with rain coming in like it does.

    Magnolia is beautiful.

    1. JoJo, they live in it? Wow, I can't imagine either. The rain came flooding in right after our first rain when I "thought" I had it secure enough! I had nightmares. It definitely was not a good time for me, I could not imagine 3 years of that. Not worth the health risks either.

  6. I love Magnolias as well. It is definitely a southern tree with such beautiful flowers. Your pic is beautiful!!! I used to decorate our mantel with magnolia leaves at Christmas.

    1. I've never thought of decorating with the leaves. But they sure are nice enough to use for that.

  7. Magnolias always remind me of my grandmother.....the smell brings back so many memories. She had a home in Richmond, VA and a summer house south of Tappahanock, VA....and the smells that always remind me of her are magnolia, pine trees and box hedges.

We have the same van - mine is a 2000 - good to know what I need to tell tow truck drivers if I ever need one!!
