Youtube Video on Blogger and Google+

Just saw this video on youtube.

Created by 3 folks of Google+ on the use of Google+ And Blogger:

Personally, I want to learn more about this before I take the dive. I just have to wonder how much of an invasion of privacy this might become? I don't like the way Facebook takes over & I kind of see Google+ taking the same route.

Again, I need to educate myself more into this though before I can really express any strong opinions towards it. And it may just very well become our future for many things internet related anyhow...

  1. I'm staying away from this. I may be mistaken, but I think it limits commenting on a Blogger blog to those with Google + accounts. Not for me, as I don't want to limit folks like that. Seems like it's giving up some of the control over where my blog entries "go" and I also have privacy concerns. Just my 2 cents. :)

    1. I think you can still set your comment page to allow both. Actually, I don't think a google+ person would be prevented from commenting on any of the comment sections,(?) but if the page gets set up only for + users, then it leaves out those of us that aren't joined up with +.

  2. As the Google+ Comment System is totally voluntary, I don't see any invasion of privacy concerns. Google+ has fairly strong privacy controls that enable users to tailor their personal profiles and limit sharing of anything they do not want made public. It's much better than Facebook in that regard.

As for limiting comments, yes the Google+ Comment Integration does require a Google+ ID. But, even on your blog, a person must have either a Google, Wordpress, LiveJournal, TypePad, Aim or OpenID to comment so this idea is nothing new either.

    1. Hi Rick, I appreciate your input. I'm trying to learn a little more about this. One blogger has set her comment forum as google+ only, so nobody can leave comments unless they are + people only. She didn't realize what she had done & is asking for help on how to switch it back. Of course, I can't comment because I'm not a +, so she is trying to figure it all out now. I see on your blog, you can still comment in any way you desire. I used to have my blog open to anonymous too, but all I ever got on that was spam, so closed the anon part down.

    2. Switching back from G+ Comments simply requires the blogger to go to their Dashboard > Settings, click the down-arrow and select Google+. Then uncheck the box that says "use Google+ Comments on this blog". That will revert you back to normal Blogger commenting.

    3. Thanks Rick. I'll see if I can find her email address to pass the info onto her. She'll appreciate it!

Please feel free to leave comments, I do read them and sometimes, I even learn something!

I do not allow spam links or spam comments. Those get deleted.
