Swivel Seat = Extra Seating

Hi, hope all is well with everyone!

Now grab your seat, turn it around & listen up:

I have the luxury of my front seats in my cockpit area being able to turn around. Swivel that is.

Don't fret -- they don't do that on their own!

Really, they don't.

They have bars under them in which you push to turn the seats around.

However, turning the drivers seat around is rather moot because the steering wheel gets in the way & well, it also would simply turn into the corner of the sofa. Plus I store a folding table behind the drivers seat that I use for various things. Mostly outside things, like when making jewelery or other projects.
Turning a seat where it's facing a fold up table seems kinda stupid huh?

Sooo, it's still a luxury of being able to swivel the passenger seat!

I've been sitting on it the past several days while my dogs have been hogging up the sofa. Literally, they've taken my sofa hostage! How dare they! But all in all, the passenger seat is actually more comfortable as it provides back support. To sit on the sofa & stretch your legs out on it, I have to pile pillows on the wall behind it for back support. Then it's a hassle of getting the pillows just right, then they eventually slip between the sofa & back of the drivers seat anyhow.

OK, back to the passenger seat.

I've had it swiveled around & have been using my step stool - my most valuable step stool that stays in my RV always! Because I can't reach inside of some of my top storage cabinets without it.

I digress, back to the seat - someone tell my mind to stay focused please.

So again, I've been sitting in the passenger seat, turned towards the living area & using the step stool with a pillow on top of it for foot support. If I don't keep my bad foot supported, it swells & gets painful. But I had another problem with that. I didn't have knee support! My knees have started killing me. Literally. They've been stabbing me! Naughty knees, naughty!

So I was looking online for collapsible ottomans. Trying to figure out how I'd store them when not in use. I found some, but they weren't available right now. So I was getting dressed to head out to the stores to see if they had any in the stores. I then spotted my file box! Hmmmm....that just might work. Looks like the right height. So lets put it in front of the seat & put the step stool in front of that!

Perfect! Just the right porridge! Oh wait, that's some little lost girl in a forest eating the bears porridge.
That's not me, I'm askeered of bears.
So perfect, just the right height!

Yay!
Ok, now lets put some pillows on top - ohhhh, groovy man! Mundo Perfecto! (I'm practicing my spanish, I only know the simple words - simple minds & all that y'know)
Now lookee here! Now if I were only 3' tall, then I could sleep here! Ha! Then I'd also only need one stool too huh? Zat's ok, my knees are happy now & they might just spare my life after all.
This is the perfect computer station for me too. I have a folding camping tray that fits between the front seats that my computer is happy to sit upon. It likes having it's own space too. And the dogs like my sofa.....sigh...

Actually, my new seating area kind of looks like a fat marshmallow. I hope they don't eat it.

That little round pillow on the back, it's actually one of those folding blankets - I have two. I have lots of blankets. Although I really don't know why? I live in Texas for goodness sake! Texas isn't known as the keep warm blanket state after all! But oh well, at least I don't collect elephants or anything like that...

And furthermore, the striped thing behind the seat on the dash is a curtain I found on clearance. I keep it there to keep the dash clean & dust free. Got tired of constantly cleaning that dash..now it stays nice.

Another Yay please!

PS, if you feel the need to mail me a bigger rig, I'll keep checking the mailbox daily! ::hint hint:: (think that will work guys? Can I have my couch back then guys?)

  1. My swiveled around passenger's seat with foot rest is my seat of choice every evening. It is much more comfy than the couch. I only use the couch to lie down on when I'm sick.

    1. Where are you now? If your seat suddenly appears to be blue without a foot rest, it wasn't me....

  2. I read a hint heother day that suggested stuffing pillows with extra blankets, that way they are useful while being stored out of sight. Craig and I each have a fleece throw that we use at the house on chilly evenings. We have had them forever, so I won't feel bad replacing them with new ones that are more color coordinated with the Alfa. I think a pair of brown ore buff colored ones would be nice because I could fold them up to look like a throw pillow. If I make them myself, I can do a pillow pocket. Yes, that is what I'm going to do. Thanks for the idea. See my mind wanders too! :~)

  3. Don't you just love it when the solution is there already without having to buy one more item?

    1. Yes Kim! All I had to do was turn around ;-)

  4. How incredibly nice of you to let the dogs have your couch. Now they will want you to take the floor so they can have your nifty seat. Cooper and Effie look at us when they are in our chairs like "hey I was here first." They are spoiled little fur kids aren't they? Wouldn't have it any other way would you???

  5. Um Tammy, you are owned by your dogs sorry to say. Seems especially by Cooper ;-) Now go lay down on that dog bed on the floor. Aren't you glad he's not a big dog!?

    1. Yes, that pillow idea is a good one! I saw on someone's blog (can't remember who now), where they stuff their undergarments in pillow cases & use that for pillows. I think they were vandwellers though? Can't remember. Not a bad idea though if you lack the space.

  7. I tried to like my swivel seat but in the end, not having 2 armrests makes it uncomfortable. So it holds a bunch of stuff I want handy to the drivers seat and the all important dog toy box.

    1. Yea, the other day, I tried to pull down the armrest, then realized, duh, it's now by the door. But I keep the small tray beside my chair & use a mouse for my laptop, so it still gives me function to use the mouse. I'm sure she loves her toy box!

  8. My passenger seat should have swiveled but the thing between the seats kept if from turning. Sure would have been nice because they were comfy seats with arm rests. You sure made a nice place for yourself if the dogs don't think so too.

  9. That's awesome. My seats wouldn't work on a swivel because the couch butts right up to the passenger seat and the back of my "dinette" that is really my full time bed is against the driver seat, so I just use the driver cab area as the doggies bedroom with crate halves, comfy bedding and a divider curtain.

Mayhaps when I get a larger rig, I can entertain the 'swivel'... :)

    Good job TexCyn!

    1. We do what we can't don't we. Sounds like you & I both need bigger rigs! But you do a good job at keeping things minimal. I messed up & didn't get minimal sized dogs ;-)

  10. You make me glad I don't have pets right now. My couch stays made up as my bed most of the time and I sit in an office chair at my desk. My passenger seat can swivel but my ottoman is not comfortable for me so I park it on the passenger seat and use it to store stuff instead. When I'm expecting company I move the ottoman/storage cube to the driver seat and swivel the passenger seat because it is fine seating for people taller than me. then I sit on my bed with pillows propping me up. I bet I have more pillows than you have blankets. :)

    1. Hmmm, I have to think here, I have 7 pillows, oh wait 8! haha! 2 regular sized for sleeping, one small one for sleeing, so I have to sleep with 3 pillows. Then there's the memory foam pillow, the massage pillow, the body pillow (which doesn't get used, but makes a nice blockage for bottom bed storage), 2 blanket pillows. Geez. No wonder I don't have room for clothes! Blankets? Um...oh never mind, I'll just say it's rediculous!

    2. Hah! I have eight pillows. And I sleep with six of them. I have to support my arms when sleeping so it takes a lot of them. And I slept on my stomach from birth until I was many months pregnant and had to learn to sleep on my side so I still have to have a pillow against the front of my body to be able to sleep. The other two are my back pillow I sometimes use when driving and a neck pillow for use in the passenger seat.

For blankets, though I only have a top sheet for when it's hot, a comforter for when it's not and a lap rug for use at my desk which goes on top of the other two when it's really cold.

    3. Oh, I forgot about the neck pillow...should I meantion it? Nah ;-)

Is your bed big enough for 6 pillows??? ;-)
