Hope all is well with everyone.
So I've been busy, busy & busy. I got back Monday from the mechanics. I think I will take a break from mechanic camp! Geez. Enough already huh?
So when I got back, I got the dogs & kitties settled back into their proper places. Got out all the dog blankets, kitty blankets & such from the RV & washed them. Then did my clothes. They get priority y'know. Since I can't plug in to use the a/c right now, I didn't do much inside of the motor home. I left windows open & such, hoping it would be cool enough the next morning to get some interior work done. And it was. So I set forth to really strip things out & do a deep cleaning. I pulled things out, pulled out all the carpeted runners I use, etc & washed everything. Including a tarp. Yep, a tarp. Hey, it's washable, although a plastic one, it's washable. So washed it too. The runners & tarp, I put out on the bushes to air dry.
I really thought that my carpeting would need a serious shampooing after this trip, but it looks great! The runners did their job of protecting the carpeting underneath them.
So it's been a busy day of cleaning when I could -- had to go in & out several times. The heat gets to be too much. Soon, we'll have to resolve this issue. I really wish it were later in the year & I'd not have to worry about this. But then, this is Texas, you can expect to use a/c on some winter days here! And sometimes Santa even wears shorts for Christmas!
But I really can't live in someone's house. I really love living in my own little RV. So we'll have to think of something.
If I had it my way, I'd be in Colorado or the PNW to keep us all cool. But one day, I'll get that dream..sometimes we just have to really work for it.
I'm trying to find time to just sit & catch up on blogs too. During all this time of my mechanic shop visits, I've fallen seriously behind.

DeleteYou definitely didn't have any city scenery where you were stuck with mechanical problems. The heat right now is pretty scorching. I think you've had rain down there around Houston but the ground is cracking here in San Antonio. Sure hope you can get your mechanical issues taken care of soon. Does anyone have a portable A/C you could stick in a window until then?
ReplyDeleteI kept wondering how this guy stays in business. He's way out in the country. I was the only RV he had on his lot. With 28 years of experience, you'd think he'd have a few sitting around for this or that kind of repairs? Houston did get a lot of rain while I was gone. Our temps are about 10 degrees cooler than ya'll are right now too...but then, once it hits past 90, does that matter anymore?? I used to live in SA, it's much drier, but the lack of humidity is much nicer!
DeleteI have a portable A/C, but it would not function well on the heavy duty extension cord. (you're not supposed to run them on extension cords, but what choice does one have sometimes?)
So now we're checking out other alternatives & I'm in the house for now...
So that's what I missed... the AC in your RV isn't working. I remember your posting about all being broke but somehow I thought it had gotten repaired.

No, there is nothing wrong with the air conditioner. It's a power issue. I can't plug into the power here & run it without overloading & tripping the circuit breakers :-(
DeleteAt least you can stay in the house. I know its not as comfy as your own. But the heat can really make you sick. Hope something works out soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks JoJo. We're going to try to address the power issues when they come back. Soon, fall/winter will come & I won't have to worry about this as much, but for now, it's the sofa for me.
DeleteThis summer, so far, hasn't been as hot as others (still in the 90's, but not in the 100's), so I'm hoping it's an indication of cooler weather sooner??!

DeleteMarsha, another strange thing. I'm certain I joined your blog when you joined mine. I just checked your url & I'm not up there, so I joined again. A few weeks ago, blogger started dropping folks off my blog roll! I had to go back & rejoin some of them. It was weird. No one else said they've had that happen to them though.
