That 70's era

Another era...gone.

I went to the store today. I use alligator clips for my jewelry making. I needed more as I seem to only have one left.

I lose them sometimes.

I lose things sometimes.

Including my mind -- but that was from another era ;-)
Now it's just lost.
With the gator clips.

The last package I bought, I got them to support the blasted pull up shades on my custom van. Yes, almost all the strings broke, so I'd just get frustrated & clip the darn shades to the up position & be done with it. Well today, none were to be found. I'm walking the aisles in the hardware, electrical, automotive & fishing departments of the store.
Nothing.
Not even one thing will do for what I need.
So I find someone that drags me over to all these same departments. The same ones I've already gone over with a fine tooth eyeball 3 times already. But hey, they work there, they know, right?

Wrong.

So then he hooks me up with another sales man...yep, I get dragged down the same freaking aisles. Again. But this time, the associate also has the front of my cart as he's dragging it along with me hanging on. Oh fun! I wondered if I could jump into the cart & get a free ride! But then I realize what I'm looking for, so maybe he'll think I need it for other purposes. But I would have been wrong. None of these people know what the heck it is I'm looking for! So I say ROACH CLIP!!!! Um, hey, that didn't work! They didn't even blink an eye. I just got blank looks. So I guess that really qualifies me as an old fart now.

So now they are all probably having a conversation of the weird lady that likes to put clips on roaches....

............I'll spare ya'll & will refrain from hunting up a roach picture....

Just put it in your imagination - that should do the trick.  Have a nice day!

PS, I use clothespins on my shades in the RV to keep them up or down. I wonder if store employees know what they are??
Nah. Not gonna ask.

  2. The closest we've come to what you're looking for are those clippy things to hold chip bags closed. We had trouble finding clothes pins in Costa Rica... and the ones we finally got were so flimsy they'd barely hold a pair of jeans onto the clothesline. You know what those things look like? Kinda like the thingys you clip onto your battery when you need to charge it... maybe an automotive store? Somehow Alligator clips comes to mind... but, what do I know?

    1. Oh clothespins just ain't what they usta be! Remember the really old fashioned ones? People made little people out of them. They were actually kinda cute...bet those are long gone now too. We'll see them on the Antiques Roadshow someday! along with the roach clip...

    1. It's a clip that you put on Roaches! At least that's what the employees are talking about right now...or maybe dreaming about if they've gone to bed now - heehee

  7. Next time ask for aligator clips. Teri maybe right with Radio Shack. Oh I see a few others already said that. But I like the roach clip name better.
    sales people have no personality.
I used to make pretty cool ones but that was a long time ago and can't remember where I bought them. It sure was a long time ago.
Send me your e-mail address if you want the recipe.

    1. I did ask for Alligator clips! They had no clue whatsoever. So after telling them, trying to describe them, I even told them that they were the kind of clips that folks used in their hair with the beads & feathers hanging off of them. Blank stares. You could hear crickets ;-) so then I said ROACH CLIPS! More crickets...so yes, I'll try Radio Shack next! Thanks.
      Salukiz(at)hotmail.com thanks on the recipie!

  8. LOL Roach clips, now that's a blast from the past.

Hey, I saw you comment on Me and My Dog's blog that you carry an air compressor. Would you mind elaborating? What size/capacity is it and brand etc? I'm looking for one to air up the tires in my new (to-me) RV.

    Thanks!
