Generator fixed!

Yay, my generator is now fixed & working!!

Yipeeeeee!!!

It was just a faulty ground wire.

Go figure, all that worrying & that's all it was.

So the previous guy replaced the starter, the selaniod, a few other things & it was JUST a ground wire!

Oh well, at least it's working now.

Thanks to PPL who worked me in & got it done right away!

While there, I bought a new clearance light replacement cap (& bought the wrong one, AFTER telling a friend yesterday which one to buy for her motorhome! duh). I saw ORANGE & didn't pay attention to the part number! Goofy me.

Bought new gaskets for my roof vents.

Bought a new fan blade for the bathroom exhaust fan. The old one is really weathered & is crumbling.

Bought more RV wax. So I can torture myself some more in the future.

And picked up their new free parts catalog.

Anyone in the states can get one, just go here to order one. They come in handy for reference as well.

  1. Sounds like you are rebuilding your coach piece by piece :) Glad you were able to get your generator fixed, I know that is a load off your mind. Getting all those new little items makes you feel better about keeping it running good.
Now if we could only buy pieces to rebuild our bodies...

    1. Hi Tammy, I keep telling myself & everyone else, it's just maintenance. But I'm beginning to think it's restoration instead!

  2. Maybe the broken wire was just the last thing that needed fixing. Maybe if it had been done first you still would have needed to do the other things. Maybe.

    1. Linda, I made the big mistake of going on panic - when the generator gave up the ghost, I had the dogs in the rig. The power in my friend's house would not allow me to use my a/c, as it wasn't strong enough. My portable a/c was on loan. So I drove off seeking to get the genny fixed asap! But the place I found told me he didn't know generators, but was willing to do what he could...so I can't fully blame him as he was being honest with me. PPL pretty much suggested that it was just the ground fault &...oh well. Guess those new things will keep it running for a longer time in the future?

  3. So glad you got the generator fixed!!! So, can you look forward to hot weather with a/c in the future???

I know it sounds early to be talking about a/c but there were a couple days in January that I threatened to change over to a/c around here!! It doesn't take long for spring to turn to summer in Arkansas!!!

    1. You would have laughed at me this afternoon. Ran the genny on a full load, kept switching back & forth from a/c to heat. Then I shut it all down & opened the windows to air the rig out! The heat will be here soon enough won't it.

    2. Well, you needed to test it out fully. Right?

So glad things are going well. Enjoy the cool air!!! And yes the heat will be here before I am anywhere near ready.

  4. One of these days you're not going to have anything to buy for your rig. Right! In maybe 50 years. Glad your generator is fixed. Very important item.

  5. Probably easier to list what hasn't been fixed than what has. Should be getting close to 100% ready to go.
